You can read our full article on how to setup and position your monitor arm in the most ergonomic position here. In short:
Height - the ideal height for your monitor is when your eye level is just below the top of the screen. Tilting your head backward or forward can cause neck strain.
Distance - as a general rule, the length of your arm is roughly the distance you want between your eyes and the monitor. This will mean you do not have to crane your neck forward and will help to avoid neck and eye strain.
The VESA mount, also known as the mounting interface standard, allows monitors to be attached to various accessories such as desk mounts, wall mounts, or monitor arms. If a monitor has a VESA mount, it can typically be used with desk mounts, but it's essential to check the monitor's specifications for the VESA mount size and pattern compatibility with the desk mount.
Some monitors may require additional adapters or brackets to fit certain desk mounts properly. For further information on monitor compatibility with desk mounts, visit our guide on monitor compatibility with desk mounts, including how to position a dual monitor stand.
To sit ergonomically with two monitors, ensure both are at eye level and aligned with your eye line to reduce neck strain. Keep your feet flat on the floor, knees at a 90-degree angle, and back supported by the chair's backrest. Position the keyboard and mouse close to your body to minimize reaching and strain on the arms and wrists.
For effective dual monitor usage, arrange them side by side with the primary monitor directly in front of you and the secondary monitor to the side. Refer to our articles for further guidance on ergonomic desk setup and working with dual monitors.
